Do you have problems and soreness with your feet, why not see a specialist?
Dry needling aims to restore normal tension with the muscle by eliciting a ‘local twitch response’, thereby promoting appropriate muscle function and pain reduction.
Sitting for long periods is associated with a higher risk of diabetes, heart disease and cancer. If you have a desk job get moving..Use the stairs not the lift.
One of the modalities I offer with massage therapy is West and East traditional cupping. It is a practice which treats many conditions such as: chronic pain, pain from long standing injury, colds, detoxes the body, reduces anxiety symptoms, reduces stress and relieves muscle tension. This week one of my clients who absolutely loves cupping, came to a new definition for cupping. She defined it as a cellular re birthing modality, because it is just how she feels post treatment. Completely brand new. That put a smile on my face. I highly recommend cupping!
The winter months do bring in more clients seeking relief from muscle pain, pain experienced with arthritic conditions, anxiety and depression. Recent studies on the effects of massage for arthritic symptoms have shown, that regular massages increase improvements in pain, stiffness, range of motion, muscle strength and joint health. Research has also shown that massage can lower the body’s production of the stress hormone cortisol, and boost production of serotonin, which improves mood. If you experience such symptoms give your mind and body a gift and book yourself in for a therapeutic/remedial massage.
Sometimes clients come in with muscular skeletal pain and request a massage treatment and we start exploring what has been happening in their lives. As the client unfolds painful feelings and grief from such experiences, they are able to release that ‘stuckness’ of pain and the healing process begins, even before the massage treatment starts. There is an intimate connection between the mind and body. When you are willing to feel, you can heal.
Studies have shown that the connection between the client and therapist, contributes to how successful the healing outcomes in therapy will be. Exploring and expressing your feelings and thoughts with a professional counsellor in a confidential space is an ultimate gift you can give to yourself. Having a counsellor you connect with and feel understood by, is an effective life tool to include in your self-care plan.
